Arsenal Set to Make Second Bid for Wolves Goalkeeper Dan Bentley
Arsenal are reportedly preparing a second bid for Wolves goalkeeper Dan Bentley after their initial offer was rejected by the Premier League club. The Gunners are in urgent need of experienced goalkeepers for their upcoming U.S. pre-season tour.

Their opening bid of £50,000 for Bentley was turned down, but Arsenal are expected to return with an improved offer this week. In addition to their interest in Bentley, Arsenal have agreed a deal with Ajax for England Under-20 goalkeeper Tommy Setford. The 18-year-old is set to join Arsenal for a fee of around €1 million.
Transfer Activity
Arsenal have been active in the transfer market, with several key moves completed this week. Albert Sambi Lokonga has joined Sevilla on a season-long loan, which includes a €12 million purchase clause. If Sevilla exercises this option, Arsenal will retain a 25 percent sell-on clause for Lokonga’s future transfers.
“Arsenal are satisfied with these arrangements, which should help facilitate incoming transfers.”
Nuno Tavares has begun training with Lazio ahead of the announcement of his loan deal for the coming season. This deal includes a mandatory €9 million purchase clause, with the club holding a significant sell-on clause exceeding 25 percent.
Pursuing Top Talent
Arsenal are still pursuing Italy international defender Riccardo Calafiori from Bologna. The club’s strategy is to sell players deemed surplus to requirements and replace them with higher-calibre talent, thereby raising the squad’s overall level. In Calafiori’s case, the club seem prepared to push through a deal before offloading any of their current defensive options.
The Gunners are also keen on adding a central midfielder, with Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino high on their list following his Euro 2024 victory with Spain.
Wide Player Options
For a wide player, Nico Williams remains the preferred candidate. However, his €58 million release clause at Athletic Bilbao, which must be paid upfront, and competition from Barcelona, complicate the deal. The club may need to sell some of their front-line players to fund Williams’ acquisition.
Mikel Arteta
Arsenal’s transfer activity is expected to continue in the coming weeks, with the club looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season.
