The Uncertain Future of Bonza and Everton FC

The deal’s collapse has raised questions about the future of Bonza, which entered voluntary administration in April after its lessors seized its fleet of four Boeing 737 MAX 8s, forcing it to cancel all flights. Despite this, 777 Partners paid $30.9 million to the Liverpool-based club hours after the budget airline’s aircraft were repossessed.
In a statement, Everton said, “The agreement between 777 Partners and Blue Heaven Holdings Limited for the sale and purchase of the majority shareholding in the club expired today.” This news comes amidst reports that 777 founders Josh Wander and Steven Pasko stepped aside from their roles as managing partners.

In other football news, Manchester United has discovered its Europa League fate after UEFA threatened relegation. The team won the FA Cup, earning them automatic qualification to Europe’s second-tier competition for next season. However, there was some doubt that they would be allowed to play in the competition after Nice, also owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, qualified for the Europa League.
UEFA rules state that clubs owned by the same company are not allowed to play in the same European competition. Normally, the team that finished lower in their respective league would be relegated to the Europa Conference League, in this case, United. However, according to The Times, both United and Nice will be allowed to play in the Europa League next term, subject to certain conditions.
