Return of the Ox? Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain Eyes Premier League Comeback

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, the former Liverpool attacking midfielder, is looking to make a comeback to the Premier League this summer after being told he can leave Turkish giants Besiktas. The 30-year-old has been left out of Besiktas’ squad for their pre-season training camp in Slovenia, making it clear he is no longer part of their plans.

Chamberlain’s time in Turkey has come to an end

Chamberlain’s agents are exploring the prospect of a return to English football, even though his current contract in Turkey still has two years left to run. Turkish reports claim his former employers Southampton are interested alongside Fulham and Sheffield United, though English sources have since shot down suggestions that ‘The Ox’ could return to St Mary’s.

The England international has also been apart from his fiancee and Little Mix star Perrie Edwards plus son Axel during his time at Besiktas - another reason why he would jump at the chance to return home.

Chamberlain is eager to be reunited with his family

Chamberlain’s Besiktas deal is worth a reported £2.2million per season and he has also earned up to £8600 per match, though those figures are said to be dependent on playing time.

Meanwhile, Erling Haaland, the Manchester City striker, has fired an ominous warning ahead of the new Premier League season. Haaland, who won the Premier League and the Golden Boot for the second season running, is already preparing for the new campaign.

Haaland is ready for the new season

The 2024/25 Premier League campaign will get under way on August 16 when Manchester United host Fulham at Old Trafford. Haaland and his Man City teammates will take part in the traditional Community Shield curtain-raiser on August 10, live on talkSPORT.
