Premier League Transfer News: Newcastle United Miss Out on Top Talent
The Premier League transfer window is in full swing, and several top clubs are making moves to strengthen their squads. In this article, we’ll take a look at some of the latest transfer news, including a major blow for Newcastle United.
Newcastle United’s transfer woes
Newcastle United were understood to be one of several clubs to have submitted a proposal for 19-year-old winger Amario Cozier-Duberry before he accepted Brighton’s offer. Cozier-Duberry has agreed a four-year deal with Brighton after snubbing a new deal at Arsenal. The Gunners were in discussions with Cozier-Duberry regarding a new contract after signing his first professional deal in 2022.
“Amario is very exciting and Mikel [Arteta] likes him,” said Arsenal under-18s manager Jack Wilshere. “He reminds me of Bukayo Saka, plays in the same position as him, needs to get better with his decision-making like Bukayo did, but he’s definitely exciting.”
While Newcastle missed out on the youngster, they have completed two free transfers already this summer with Lloyd Kelly joining following his release from AFC Bournemouth and John Ruddy joining after his deal at Birmingham City expired last month.
Arsenal Look to Strengthen Goalkeeping Options
Arsenal are interested in signing the Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Dan Bentley. The 30-year-old goalkeeper is a target for Arsenal as they look to replace Aaron Ramsdale. The Englishman is expected to leave Arsenal this summer in search of regular playing time. David Raya is currently the first-choice goalkeeper at the club and Ramsdale will not want to stick around as a squad option.
Arsenal FC are looking to strengthen their goalkeeping options
According to a report from the Athletic, Arsenal have already contacted the Premier League club regarding a move for the 30-year-old Englishman. Wolves are uninterested in selling the player unless there is a substantial offer on the table. It will be interesting to see if Arsenal will follow up on their interest with an official bid in the coming days.
Liverpool Set Sights on Wolves Defender
Liverpool’s new sporting director Richard Hughes has promised the Reds will take an ‘opportunistic’ view in the transfer market this summer and it appears they’re already making moves. One Wolves star is on their radar - defender Rayan Ait-Nouri.
Liverpool FC are looking to strengthen their defense
Ait-Nouri is familiar with English football after spending four seasons at Molineux and featuring 38 times in all competitions during 2023/24. The 23-year-old could be available for a cut-price fee this summer with Premier League rivals Manchester City and Chelsea also said to be keen on his services.
It might help Liverpool’s quest to sign Ait-Nouri that he is a client of superagent Jorge Mendes Gestifute agency, which also represents Reds stars Darwin Nunez and Diogo Jota. While Robertson recently signed a new deal that keeps him on Merseyside for another two seasons, the former Hull City man turned 30 earlier this year, meaning the powers that be at Anfield need to think about a long-term replacement.
