Premier League: Cost of Watching Your Team Play at Home Revealed

The Premier League fixtures for the 2024/25 season have been released, and fans are eagerly anticipating the start of the new campaign. However, the cost of watching your team play at home might come as a shock to some.

According to ticket resale website livefootballtickets.com, Manchester United’s opening match of the 24/25 campaign against Fulham on Friday, August 16, has the second cheapest ticket prices listed of all 10 fixtures in the opening round of games played across that weekend.

West Ham’s home opener against Aston Villa on Saturday, August 17, has the cheapest resale ticket price in the division that weekend, priced at £71. United’s game against Fulham at the 74,310 capacity Old Trafford comes in £3 more expensive – potentially due to the size of the stadium, the draw of the opposition, or possibly even with fans having memories of the problems caused by heavy rain leaking into the stadium at their home game against Arsenal in May.

‘It seems Man United fans are slow to buy into Erik Ten Hag’s new era at Old Trafford.’

Everton’s game against Brighton at Goodison Park the following afternoon is third cheapest at £91 for the cheapest resale ticket.

On the other end of the spectrum, Liverpool’s trip to newly-promoted Ipswich on Saturday, August 17, has by far the most expensive resale tickets on the market for the opening round of fixtures. Perhaps unexpectedly due to the 29,600 capacity at Portman Road, the fact that it’s the Reds who are in town, and it being the first Premier League game at the Suffolk stadium in more than 22 years, the cheapest ticket available on the platform came in at £450.

That dwarfs the second most expensive fixture, another newly-promoted side, Leicester, hosting another big-gun in the form of Spurs on Monday, August 19. The cheapest resale ticket available at the 32,250 capacity King Power Stadium was £257, when the data was collected on July 12.

Chelsea’s clash with champions Man City at Stamford Bridge the previous day was the third most expensive at £244 for the cheapest resale ticket.

It’s clear that the cost of watching your team play at home can vary greatly depending on the fixture and the stadium. While some fans will be relieved to find affordable tickets, others will have to dig deeper into their pockets.
