The Summer Transfer Window: What to Expect

The summer transfer window is just around the corner, and Premier League clubs are gearing up for a busy period of buying and selling. But when does the window open, and what can we expect from the top clubs?

When Does the Summer Transfer Window Open?

The summer transfer window for Premier League and English Football League (EFL) clubs opens on 14 June, the same day the European Championship begins. The Women’s Super League (WSL) window opens ten days later on 24 June. But both dates are before the windows in Europe’s other top five leagues open. Over in France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, 1 July is the day that moves go through.

When Does the Summer Transfer Window Close?

Unlike when they open, windows across the top five leagues close on 30 August. In the WSL, clubs have an additional fortnight until 13 September. But the time that business ends does differ across countries.

Haaland scored 36 goals in 35 appearances in the top flight as Pep Guardiola’s side eventually ran away with the title after Arsenal had led the way for most of the season.
