Vision FC Make History with Promotion to Rwanda Premier League

As I sat in the stadium, watching Vision FC take on Rutsiro FC, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of excitement and pride. The energy in the air was electric, and the tension was palpable. This was more than just a game - it was a chance for Vision FC to make history and secure their spot in the Rwanda Premier League.

The game was intense, with both teams giving it their all. Rutsiro FC took the lead in the 26th minute, thanks to a header from Eric Kwizera. But Vision FC refused to give up. They made some tactical changes at halftime, bringing on Radjab Mbanjineza in place of team captain Vivens Mukunzi. The move paid off, as Mbanjineza won a free kick in the 52nd minute, which led to a beautiful equalizing goal from defender Richard Nsengimana.

In the end, Rutsiro FC emerged victorious, claiming the top spot in the playoffs mini league with 13 points. But Vision FC’s second-place finish was still a historic achievement, marking their first-ever promotion to the Rwanda Premier League.

“We are all very happy for our players, our coach, and staff, and everyone who has worked hard to achieve this historic moment,” said Vision FC president John Birungi. “We started this club as an offshoot of our youth programme, which provided a platform for young people in the communities around Kigali and elsewhere around the country.”

As I looked around at the jubilant Vision FC players and fans, I couldn’t help but feel a sense of pride and admiration for this team. They’ve worked tirelessly to achieve their dream, and it’s a testament to their hard work and dedication.

“We then identified some really talented youngsters, and for the last 13 years, we have been playing in the second division,” Birungi continued. “But this is the first time we will be earning our place in the topflight.”
