The Year 5 football team at Wolfson Hillel Primary School in Southgate, north London, has achieved a remarkable victory in the Premier League Primary Stars Football Tournament. Representing their local Premier League team, Tottenham Hotspur, the young athletes emerged victorious in the Enfield regional final back in January.

The team’s success was celebrated in style, with representatives from Tottenham Hotspur arriving at the school to award the young athletes with coveted Spurs shirts and certificates. The excitement was palpable as the Premier League trophy, won by Manchester City this season, was brought to the school for the whole student body to see.

The winning team, comprising Cooper Glass, Eli Arami, Leo Abrahams, Max Reynolds, Robert Fitch, Noah Beckwith, Jonathan Benhamin, and Callum Livingston, secured a decisive 2-0 victory in their final match, thanks to goals from Cooper Glass and Eli Arami.

Premier League representative Jez Weeks hosted an assembly for the school, explaining how the football league worked and emphasizing the importance of hard work and perseverance. The students also enjoyed a football workshop from the Tottenham Hotspur Foundation, and were treated to an appearance by the Tottenham Hotspur mascot, ‘Lily’.

The school’s head of PE, Adam Warner, shared insights into the school’s recent sporting achievements, including the girls’ team winning the Premier League Primary Stars Regional Football Tournament in Luton last year. Warner paid tribute to the Jewish Community Academy Trust (JCAT), which revamped the PE curriculum at the school and introduced new enrichment activities.
